Porter Job Description Abilene Woman's Club Foundation
A porter shall [be employed by the Abilene Woman's Club Foundation [AWCF] after the recommendation of the prospective employee by the Human Resources Committee and Club Manager. The porter's job is a part-time position performing duties as directed by the Club Manager.]{new="" roman="" times=""}
Job Requirements
- Must have own transportation.
- Must have own phone.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Must be able to work independently without continual supervision.
- Must be able to withstand the physical demands of the job, including. standing and walking for most of the shift, bending, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to follow multi-step directions.
- Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the Abilene Woman's Club Foundation
- Must maintain care when handling objects owned by the Abilene Woman's Club as many are very delicate and irreplaceable.
Job Responsibilities
- The porter will be responsible to the Club Manager
- Be able to operate kitchen appliances and machines.
- Be able to arrange an event room with tables and chairs following a diagram.
- Be able to clean up a room following an event by removing tablecloths from the tables, taking down the tables and chairs, storing them appropriately, removing the trash and vacuuming, if necessary.
- Be able to empty trash in all areas of the building and carry trash to the dumpster.
- Be able to clean the kitchen by wiping down and sanitizing all surfaces and mopping the floor.
- Be able to walk through the building to check for maintenance issues (light bulbs, leaks, fallen tiles, cleanliness, broken items etc.} and report needed repairs to the Club Manager.
- Be able to check restrooms for cleanliness, trash etc. and clean as needed.
- Be able to follow safety rules and precautions.
- Be able to adapt to work tasks.
- Must wear an approved Abilene Woman's Club uniform.
- Must demonstrate a positive, pleasant, and courteous manner when among members and renters of the Abilene Woman's Club Foundation.
