Jacobs Project Controls Lead - Global Design Automation in Bristol, United Kingdom

Your Impact:

The Project Controls Lead is a role on the global Design Automation program, focused on managing a portfolio of internal projects and delivery teams, driving development, monitoring and corrective action of budgets, schedules, and resourcing.

As the Project Controls Lead, you’ll interface with the program management team, the Product Owners, and the Organizational Change Management (OCM) team. Your focus will be centered on project / program management support, while driving innovation in a constantly changing, agile environment.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Establish and manage project and delivery team schedules. Be responsible for continued governance of product validity, throughout development and growth, applying agile methodologies.

  • Lead and educate Product Owners to establish budgets, reflecting the size and maturity of their products. Support Product Owners managing performance against budget, including collaboratively defining corrective actions to address variances.

  • Integrate input from the program management team, Product Owners and GID team leads, to forecast, monitor and manage utilisation of resources against delivery requirements.

  • Work with Product Owners to develop KPIs for products, validation methods for KPI assumptions and monthly reporting of benefits.

  • Engage internal stakeholders to ensure successful resourcing, budgetary performance, and reporting.

  • Support the Product Owners in identification and management of design and schedule changes.

  • Support Design Automation program management team members in facilitating team meetings, managing resources and prioritizing work elements.

  • Support development of internal work agreements between different business units internal to Jacobs and with external suppliers.

Key competencies include:

  • Project Management: Effective project management skills are essential to plan, coordinate, and execute product delivery strategies, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, managing resources and with the desired outcomes and benefits.

  • Program Management: Understanding of benefits realisation and managing a portfolio of products, managing priorities, resources, and issues.

  • Project Controls: Ability to leverage recognized project controls tools and techniques to ensure optimal performance against budget, KPI, and resource forecasts; to include but not limited to MP Project, Primavera P6.

  • Organizational Change Management: Understanding of managing change, OCM principles, delivering people dependent ROI and developing change and adoption strategies.

  • Analytical thinking: Strong analytical mindset to assess data, metrics, and feedback to make informed decisions and prioritize improvement initiatives.

  • Problem-solving: A strong problem-solving aptitude allows for the identification of engineering design process challenges, the development of innovative solutions, and the implementation of effective improvements. Courage to share your ideas while also listening to others.

  • Communication: excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for fostering collaboration and driving change within the organization.

  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of design principles, engineering concepts, and relevant design tools and technologies.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • At least 10 years in project/program management, project controls, and/or transformation and strategy and process improvement.

  • Experience and sound knowledge of the Program and current modes of operation are highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of Jacobs internal processes are essential.

  • Knowledge of Jacobs business units and organizational structure is essential.

  • Formal qualification in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Demonstrable experience of successful delivery of the following:

  • Agile Project Management.

  • Organizational Change Management.

  • Program Management.

  • Project Controls.
