Job Description: Database Administrator (SQL Server) About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with a specialization in Microsoft SQL Server. A successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of our SQL Server databases, ensuring its performance, security, and reliability. This role will work closely with our product teams to help identify areas of improvement, and to help our applications best grow to align with industry best practices. The hired candidate will be responsible for proactively managing our database instances rather than only supporting the databases. About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. A successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of our SQL Server databases, ensuring its performance, security, and reliability. This role will work closely with our product teams to help identify areas of improvement, and to help our applications best grow to align with industry best practices. The hired candidate will be responsible for proactively managing our database instances rather Key Responsibilities Implement, and maintain our Microsoft SQL Server databases, including schema design, data modeling, and ETL processes. Ensure the performance, security, and reliability of the database. Monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement. Perform proactive capacity and performance validations on multiple databases. Develop and implement backup, recovery and failover procedures. Review vulnerabilities, install patches, and develop implementation plans as applicable. Review and test failover scenarios. Experience with migrating on-prem instances to Azure SQL Server managed instances or Azure SQL Databases, is a plus. Troubleshoot and resolve database specific issues. Collaborate with other teams to ensure database integration with other systems. Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in database administration. Help identify areas of improvement across our technologies, utilizing robust knowledge of best practices. Identify areas of efficiency & consolidation to help limit database costs. Document all database technical debt and manage the backlog of documented items. Work alongside the architecture team to help improve database design standards. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. 5+ years of experience in database administration. Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, SSIS, and SSRS. Experience with Azure preferred including Azure SQL Databases, managed instances, and SQL Server on Virtual Machines.
