Description of Work Unit

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I- FBS and the Mountain West Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide professional administrative support to the Director of Athletics and their executive team.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing, Management, Public Relations, Human Resources, Communications, HPER , HES , Sports Management/Administration, Recreation, Education, Economics, Liberal Arts, Sociology or any other field related to duties and responsibilities

  • Minimum of two years of comparable work experience with executive level management

  • Proficiency with a wide variety of technology applications, including Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with sensitive/confidential matters and internal/external constituents

  • Experience working independently, in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision

  • Willingness to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, public relations and interpersonal skills

  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience working within intercollegiate athletics, preferably at the NCAA DI ( FBS ) level

  • Knowledge of NCAA governance, structure and rules

  • Knowledge of higher education policies, procedures and governance structure

Duty/Responsibility

  • Plan and prioritize athletic director/executive team’s time and schedules, including meetings, travel and events, upcoming activities and deadlines

  • Serve as liaison between athletic director/executive team and internal/external constituents including various university offices/staff, NCAA , MW Conference, donors and supporters of the department, alumni, corporate sponsors, media reps, local/regional government and business entities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of administrative office suite ensuring a professional and welcoming environment, efficient and productive workflow and appropriate response to critical issues

  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the department including compiling and disseminating information, policies and procedures; scheduling and facilitating presentations, meetings, workshops, etc.; and scheduling appropriate facilities

  • Facilitate and/or assist with select special events, including but not limited to student-athlete fall welcome back event, graduation receptions (including overseeing and ordering awards/gifts) and staff events

  • Handle daily volume of incoming communications through various mediums in order to identify issues, prioritize items and assist with successful follow-up/resolution

  • Apply knowledge of basic principles, rules, regulations, policies, precedents and other guidelines/objectives to communicate with staff, coaches, student-athletes, parents, prospective students, university personnel, conference and NCAA personnel, officials and the public to answer inquiries, provide information, assist and resolve problems

  • Serve on department committees as needed or as liaison for Director of Athletics

  • Perform other duties as assigned
