KIDS IN DISTRESS Food Service Specialist in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

This position is responsible for managing the ordering, receipt and delivery of food items and ensuring the quality of meals and services provided to the programs at KID.

In addition, you will receive aSIGN-ON INCENTIVE OF 40 HOURS OF VACATION TIME OFF AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF YOUR 90 DAYS PROBATIONARY PERIOD, TO BE TAKEN WITHIN YOUR FIRST YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT.

TheFood Service Specialistassists with the development of nutritious and age-appropriate menus and the weekly distribution of menus to the programs.Ensures daily menu requirements are followed and oversees the timely delivery of prepared food and inventory items to KID programs as needed. Oversees the Federal Food Program at KID, attends required annual trainings and ensures proper documentation and daily compliance. Ensures that menus contain all required components, portions are consistent with program guidelines, and that paperwork is correct and complete for proper reimbursement. Receives afternoon snacks and dinner for Aftercare ensuring proper amounts are delivered and temperatures are correct. Completes all paperwork in a timely manner in compliance with program guidelines. Complies with all inspections and audits.

Shift times is 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Skills / Requirements

  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 7:30 A.M. - 400 P.M.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required and three (3) years of experience in restaurants, school cafeterias, residential institutions, hospitals or related food service positions or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • Must obtain ServSafe certification within 90 days.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license and proof of auto insurance is required to drive an Agency vehicle used for transporting meals to off-site location(s).
  • Must have working knowledge of USDA, DOE and Federal food program requirements in addition to understanding the nutritional needs of a young client population.
  • Must have strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry a variety of food items and containers that may weigh as much as 50 lbs.
