Job Description

Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.

As a non-profit organization, Straub and its affiliates are strongly committed to community outreach and education. We organize a number of events and workshops on a regular basis to educate the public about issues ranging from cardiovascular disease to cancer, diabetes, arthritis and the importance of maintaining healthy, active lifestyles. Our Community Education team ensures that these activities are well-organized and effective in connecting the organization to the community and promoting health education for Hawai‘i’s people.

If you are an enthusiastic and caring individual with great communication skills and nutritional knowledge, you could share valuable nutritional and dietary information with Straub patients and staff. As a Dietician, you will provide nutrition, weight management and diabetes management instruction for client groups and individuals, employees or the community. You will also provide blood cholesterol, glucose and body fat assessments and help to produce public relations information regarding health and nutrition for different departments within the organization. Minimum Qualifications: Registered Dietitian or R.D. Eligible.

Preferred Qualifications: Diabetes Educator certificate preferred. Active member of American Dietitic Association. Three (3) years experience in clinical and/or food and nutritional services.

Rate of pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant experience and training, as well as internal peer equity.
