  • Position Summary*

The position reports to the Director, Corporate Safety Programs & Analytics and is responsible for the day-to-day management of operational safety reporting programs. As an individual contributor, this role supports Safety Management Systems (SMS) and focuses on the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) which is an integral part of the risk, compliance, and safety reporting culture for our employees (e.g., Pilot, Dispatch, Maintenance, Ground, etc.).

  • Key Responsibilities*

Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) Management:

  • Acts as ASAP Manager and maintains procedures manual related to ASAP administration

  • Serves as the ASAP Submission Analyst and is responsible for the tracking, categorizing, and processing of all ASAP reports and action items.

  • Prepares analyses of all ASAP reports and advises the ERC of safety trends for use in corrective action recommendations.

  • Ensures coordination with other departments of all investigations and corrective actions on behalf of the ERC.

  • Performs continuous analysis of ASAP data to identify trends, safety concerns, and effectiveness of safety risk controls.

  • Serves as the primary focal for tracking, analyzing, and communicating ASAP metrics.

ERC Meeting Facilitation:

  • Facilitates Event Review Committee (ERC) meetings for Pilot, Dispatch, Maintenance, Flight Attendant, and Ground employee groups. This includes scheduling, holding, and closing meetings.

  • In order to maintain schedules and at the direction of the divisional leadership, acts as a company voting member.

  • Maintains good working relationships within the company, the FAA, and with union representatives.

  • Provides inputs/updates to ASAP program requirements and procedures based on FAA guidelines.

  • Compiles and posts ASAP/GSIP Feedback for the five employee groups

Just Culture:

  • Responsible for assisting the development and implementation of the company’s Just Culture process/model.

  • Collaborate with operational departments, labor groups, and the FAA in the adoption of Just Culture within the safety reporting programs and Hawaiian’s Safety Policy.

  • Serve as the primary focal point for the SMS Just Culture integration into HSAP policy, process/alogorthuym, and its promotion.

Assist in the management, continuous improvement, and coordination of the Hawaiian Airlines SMS per 14 CFR Part 5:

  • Supports the day-to-day management of the SMS safety reporting system.

  • Performs Safety Risk Assessments (SRA) of ineffective risk controls, new hazards, process and procedure changes, and other required SRM triggers.

  • Collaborates with the operational departmental SMS Managers in the SRM and SA activities of hazards identified through the ASAP.

  • Provides training to management on safety risk management and safety assurance policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Corporate Safety Programs & Analytics

*DOT Regulation, 14 CFR Part 120 Subpart E 120.105-120.109 identifies this position as performing safety sensitive functions. Prior to any offer of employment or transfer into this position you will be required to submit to a DOT Pre-employment drug test for evidence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Phencyclidine (PCP), and Amphetamines or a metabolite of those drugs.

  • Minimum Requirements*

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training

  • 4 years aviation experience with a 14CFR Part 121 carrier or relevant operational experience, such as 14CFR Part 135 or military.

  • Working knowledge in Aviation Safety Programs (SMS and ASAP)

  • Ability to confidently lead meetings which include members from the FAA, union(s), and company managers or directors.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).

  • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat software.

  • ** Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport SIDA credential.

/ Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $104,000 - $128,000./

  • Preferred Qualifications*

  • Possess an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate and/or FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

  • Accredited training in Aviation safety (SMS, Investigations, Human Factors).

  • Knowledge, training, or experience in one or more groups covered by ASAP: Pilot, Flight Attendant, Dispatcher, Ground, Mechanic, or extensive ASAP experience.

  • Subject matter expertise on the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) as detailed in FAA Advisory Circular 120-66, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and other FAA guidance.

  • ** Knowledge of safety reporting in general and Safety Management System (SMS).

  • Experience with Tableau.*
