King and George LLC Laborer in Kodiak, Alaska

Laborer performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.

Primary Duties: Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances Moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck Stacks materials for storage or binning Collects refuse and salvageable materials Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations. Levels ground using pick, shovel, and rake Shovels materials such as concrete or snow Cleans culverts, ditches, sidewalks, streets, and buildings Cuts and trims grass, trees, shrubs and brush Operates power lawnmowers, equipment, and vacuums Moves and arranges pieces of heavy office and household furniture, equipment and appliances. Moves and arranges pieces of automotive, medical, engineering and other types of machinery and equipment. Spreads materials such as sand or salt on icy walkways and roads Picks up leaves and trash Cleans moss debris from roofs and rain gutters All other relevant duties assigned

Education, Experience, Skills: High school education or G.E.D equivalent Must possess a valid Drivers License Capability to understand Maintenance trade practices and follow safety and health standards Previous experience using extension ladders (Must Complete Company Provided fall protection training prior to using extension ladders) Attention to detail, ability to follow directions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language.

This position requires the ability to maneuver around construction maintenance sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking, climbing, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; at times lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and team lift 51lbs. or more; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech.

Work Environment Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position may have exposure to dust, rain, refuse and landfill waste, water, and extreme heat and cold associated with environment and natural conditions existing in Kodiak, AK. Requires driving and working outdoors. Inside work may have exposure to paint and cleaning supplies. PPE may be required for some tasks.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Having reliable transportation to/from work is a necessity and must be able to have access to military installations.
