Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Manager Security Systems for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Security Services Manager, this position provides management support management support for the Security Systems Shop.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Schedules work and orders necessary materials to keep work flow moving.
  • Coordinates scheduling of work to include follow-up and quality assurance.
  • Estimates material needs and orders materials and supplies as necessary.
  • Provides feedback and reports to the Security Systems Manager.
  • Meets with end users to discuss projects and project implementation when the Security Systems Manager is unavailable.
  • Oversees the quantity and quality of work performed by subordinate personnel.
  • Arranges and/or conducts training for shop staff as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designee.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School or vocational school graduate.
  • A minimum of two years working/managing experience with access control equipment, CCTV, and intrusion alarms.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must also have knowledge of keying systems and builder's hardware in an institutional setting.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc). Must have prior project management experience.
  • Incumbent will be required to pass a complete background investigation by the University Police Department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PSP Certification preferred.
  • A valid New Jersey Locksmith license or NJ Burglar Alarm License is desirable.
