Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD) Behavioral Intervention Coordinator in Palmer, Alaska

Job Summary: The Behavior Intervention Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a team of professionals and collaborating with school staff to address the behavioral needs of students with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, and challenging behavior. The candidates expertise will be crucial in designing and implementing behavior programs, conducting functional assessments, and developing behavior plans for skill acquisition. Furthermore, the Coordinator will facilitate professional development sessions to enhance staff knowledge in behavior interventions, data collection techniques, and social skills.

Required Qualifications: Training, Knowledge and Experience: Master's degree or higher in education or a related behavioral health field. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification by start date. BACB certification for supervision of BCaBA and BCBA. BACB certification for coordinator of Registered Behavior Technician. A minimum of three years of experience working in the K12 education system with children/adolescents with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, and/or challenging behavior.

Essential Functions of the Position: Provide consultation and intervention for behavior analytic supports, effective education, and behavioral assessments for students with disabilities. Collaborate with staff to devise instructional methods for skill building and replacement behavior. Design, implement, and monitor behavior programs for students, ensuring their effectiveness and relevance. Conduct functional assessments and collaboratively develop behavior plans for skill acquisition. Develop intervention plans for students exhibiting the most challenging behaviors in the school environment. Facilitate professional development sessions on behavior interventions, progress monitoring, data collection techniques, and social skills. Consult with school staff to address the needs of students with behavior challenges. Stay updated on state and federal regulations pertaining to behavior requirements for students with disabilities. Collaborate with IEP teams to support students' placement in the least restrictive environment. Stay current on research regarding evidence-based behavioral strategies. Assist in the design, implementation, and monitoring of home-based programs. Work with special education administration and consultants to develop effective ABA training.
