Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking a Data Center Engineer!

Job summary

As an Intermediate Data Center Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day data center operations, ensuring minimal downtime of data center equipment and play an active role in maintaining business-critical data servers, network and physical infrastructure. Your responsibilities will also include leading technical projects on behalf of your team and or other initiatives.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Formal education

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for Computer Science, Engineering or other technical degree

Professional certifications

  • CompTIA would be desirable.

Experience

  • 4 - 7 years experience in Data center operations, preferably in a Media related industry

  • Experience and working knowledge of IT facilities management systems and tools

  • Experience in personal computer and/or MacBook hardware and software

  • Proficiency in Linux, preferably CentOS desirable.

  • Experience with asset tracking

  • Working knowledge of diagramming software (Autocad, Visio)

  • Experience with ITAM tools such as ManageEngine, Device42, Solar Winds or Asset Sonar.

  • Knowledge of configuration systems, such as IDRAC, IPMI - build systems

Skills and responsibilities

  • Primarily focused on day-to-day Data Center, Server & Network hardware break-fix.

  • Monitors, measures and reports on infrastructure, performance and security events.

  • Responsible for diagnosing network problems/faults using the required troubleshooting methodology and tools.

  • Provide technical communication pertaining to configurations in a concise, professional manner.

  • Possess good knowledge of internal ticketing systems to deliver accurate customer service.

  • Must identify and resolve sophisticated server hardware failures to include the replacement of failed hardware components.

  • Receive, track and deploy server and network hardware.

  • Perform on-site stock control, tracking and monitoring.

  • Perform installation, racking, and cabling services for servers and network infrastructure.

  • Follow and implement processes and procedures that improve stability, performance and availability.

  • Experience updating and maintaining data center documentation, including rack diagrams

  • Ensure established policies and procedures are followed and compliance requirements are met.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with many different customers and groups across the organization

  • Perform regular scheduled out of hours maintenance window support.

  • Perform maintenance on servers & network infrastructure, including physical parts replacements.

  • Provide on-call support for off hours data center customer concerns

Other Qualifications

  • Superb attention to detail and ability to work on repetitive tasks.

  • Ability to work at heights, lift server & network hardware regularly.

  • Ability to plan and complete tasks with minimal direction.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer care skills.

  • Excellent written and spoken technical English.

  • A true teammate with superb communication and interpersonal skills.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $38.65 to $51.25/hr. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits per company policy: including healthcare, 401(k), sick and vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
